TeenScreen Schools and Communities is a national mental health and suicide risk screening program for young people.
Screening can help identify those youth who are suffering from undiagnosed mental illness or who are at risk for suicide, make their parents aware of their children's difficulties and help connect them with mental health services that can save their lives.
North Pocono High School recently conducted screens with freshmen students who had a signed parent consent form and a student assent form.
In light of the recent tragedies of teen suicides in neighboring school districts, the school district would like to open the screens to the rest of the high school student population.
If you are interested in having your son or daughter screened, please download the parent consent form from the school's website (www.npsd.org) and return it to Mrs. Heard, School nurse, or one of the school counselors Brook Coyer, Elise Hanna or Matt Montoro.
Students will be asked to complete a consent prior to the screening.
